Wayne N. Tanaka was born in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii in 1948. He received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Utah and his Master of Education Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He began his career in the Clark County School District in 1972 as a teacher at Jim Bridger Junior High School. He was involved in various leadership roles throughout his time with the District. Just to name a few, he was the Dean of Students at Bonanza High School, Principal at Sunset High School, Principal of Robison Middle School, Principal of Clark High School and so much more.
He was a highly decorated namesake who gave students pride in themselves. Mr. Tanaka introduced T.R.A.C.S., Teaching Reading Across the Curriculum for Success, which successfully retained at-risk students.
