In this edition of Community Connection, CCSD Board of School Trustees Member Linda P. Cavazos spotlights the important educational role of school psychologists, counselors, and social workers.
School psychologists, counselors, and social workers play a critical role by helping students balance the lessons taught in the classroom with their mental health to increase learning.
Some of the ways they support CCSD’s school community include:
- Working directly with students, teachers, and parents
- Promoting collaborative problem-solving
- Conducting assessments and evaluations
- Offering crisis intervention and special education assistance
- Helping determine eligibility for special education
Through their work, CCSD’s school psychologists, counselors, and social workers help improve students’ academic performance and behavior, enhance their overall educational success, and promote mental health.
