Clark County School District (CCSD) students across southern Nevada experienced the unique opportunity to see a solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.

Students at Walter Bracken STEAM Academy practiced safety as they wore specialized viewing glasses to observe the solar eclipse.

The school used the event as a learning opportunity for the students to study what science is involved in what they saw in the sky.

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth while completely blocking the sun.

CCSD will be sharing photos throughout the day featuring the exciting ways schools utilized the solar eclipse as an educational opportunity. You can follow CCSD on Facebook, Instagram and X.
