LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus 2024: Strategic Plan Update – Student Safety
The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation on the perceptions of student safety on school campuses based on survey results. The presentation is part of the Board’s monitoring of progress toward goals outlined in CCSD’s five-year strategic plan.
The report highlighted progress in school safety initiatives, including site safety investments at high schools, the district-wide implementation of an instant alert system, and ongoing meetings with the Principal Safety Workgroup.

Agenda Item 3.02 – Focus 2024: Strategic Plan Update – Chronic Absenteeism
The Board received a report on chronic absenteeism in regard to objectives outlined in the District’s five-year strategic plan. Chronic absenteeism decreased in every student group. A student is considered chronically absent if they miss ten percent or more of the days they are enrolled during an academic year.
The report noted that District attendance officers completed nearly 30,000 home visits during the 2023-24 school year, and more than 75 schools worked with the Education Services Division to help students improve attendance.

Agenda Item 4.01 – Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council Year in Review 2023-24
Trustees received a report by the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC), which is made up of student representatives. The SSAC identified emergency management/safety protocols, mental health, and equity and diversity efforts as areas that can be improved.

The Board of School Trustees discussed a rubric for the superintendent search request for proposal. The rubric will be utilized to rate respondent proposals.
