In honor of School Nurse Day, the Clark County School District wants to recognize the more than 225 nurses who support students. Almost every student has interacted with their school nurse as they are an integral part of keeping students healthy, safe and ready to learn.

As part of the celebration, CCSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell invited five school nurses, nominated by their supervisors to a special lunch. The nurses were recognized for supporting student health and supporting their colleagues through mentorship.

Nurses Diedre Domingo, Tamara Duff, Andrea Marcum, Bridget Mends and Laura O’Connor were recognized as Exemplary Employees by the CCSD Engagement Unit.

Additionally, Duff was recently recognized as the Nevada State Association of School Nurses (NSASN) School Nurse of the Year.

Duff is currently assigned to Arbor View High School. She has been with the District for 28 years and has been assigned to 15 different schools during her career, ranging from elementary to high schools to behavioral and rural schools.

She is a nationally certified school nurse with abundant knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, policies and education. Tamara is a highly valued member of the CCSD Student and Employee Health Services Department.

Thank you to all CCSD school nurses who put our children first and keep them healthy and ready to learn.
