Dionee Simmons is a star graduate because she is never satisfied with the status quo. Not only is she an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate, but she is also the founder of the K-Pop club at Palo Verde High School. In the classroom, Dionee’s open-mindedness and progressive thinking propels discussion and challenges her colleagues to think more globally. In addition, Dionee’s reflective nature makes it easy for her to connect with and validate other people’s perspectives. She rarely seeks admiration or attention for her deeds, instead being motivated internally by a strong kinship to those around her. Dionee is a student who makes educators hopeful for the future of our community and our nation because when people like her are successful, we are all successful.
