The Clark County School District (CCSD) will recognize staff and students for their hard work through the 12 Days of Recognition. The events coordinated by the CCSD Engagement Unit will be held from December 5 to December 20, 2024.
During the 12 Days of Recognition, various community partners will honor individuals and departments who have gone above and beyond in supporting CCSD and southern Nevada.
1st Day
Approximately 50 KB Homes volunteers assisted the Engagement Unit with prepping for school supply drives, book sorting for the CCSD Book Bus and gift wrapping for the Indian Education Opportunities Program and the Family Support Center Toy Drives. Thank you to all of our volunteers who are always there to support our students!
2nd Day
On the second day of the 12 Days of Recognition, the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation (GTSF) hosted a distribution event for 450 students at William K. Moore Elementary School.
Each student was gifted a pair of shoes and socks! The GTSF empowers children with choice by providing them with the opportunity to select their very own brand-new pairs of sneakers.
By the end of 2024-2025, GTSF will have completed shoe distributions at 22 elementary and three middle schools across the District.
3rd Day
The P.E. teacher at Bob Miller Middle School, Ms. Kielee Kinghorn, was honored by Principal Joshua Wikler with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs Teacher of the Game Award.
Ms. Kinghord applied for and was awarded the Desert Dogs, “Sticks for Success” grant which brought lacrosse equipment and coaching to her P.E. classes.
She will be honored at Lee’s Family Forum during the January 18th Desert Dogs game, where she will receive a prize pack, free tickets and recognition in front of thousands of fans.
4th Day
In partnership with Creation 4 Cause and various community sponsors, the District is thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of students with disabilities who excel academically and athletically, as well as those who attend school regularly despite facing unique challenges.
A fourth-grade student from Richard H. Bryan Elementary School, Stefania, was recognized with the “Celebration of Abilities” award.
5th Day
Ms. Natalie Stevenson, a Student Success Facilitator at Arturo Cambeiro Elementary School, was nominated by Principal Brandi Pineda for the UNLV Teacher of the Game Award. From the numerous nominations, she received one of the top submissions.
UNLV will recognize her as the UNLV Basketball Teacher of the Game at the December 28th home game.
She was presented with a $500 gift card, UNLV swag, and tickets to the UNLV basketball game where she will be recognized.
6th Day
On Thursday, December 12, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation celebrated the refurbishment of the blacktop on the playgrounds at 20 Title I schools. All 20 schools received hockey equipment donated by the Golden Knights.
After cutting the ribbon on the renovated surface, the Golden Knights representatives held a ball hockey clinic at Walter E. Jacobson Elementary School.
