09 Jun Star Graduate: Maricela Mojadiddidi-Brambila of LVA

Once again this year, CCSD is honoring “Star Graduates” who stand out for academic excellence or for overcoming the odds.

Maricela Mojadiddidi-Brambila of Las Vegas Academy of the Arts excels in academics, but her true calling is community service. Maricela, a music major, is involved and completed community service through Batteries Included, Project 150 and numerous other organizations. She volunteers with community organizations including the Domestic Violence Center, Safe Nest and Teen Council, including assisting with food and clothing drives for struggling teens dealing with domestic abuse, homelessness, or facing financial hardships. While helping the community, she remains dedicated to her academics including numerous Advanced Placement courses and maintains a 3.7 GPA. “I am from a poor area that has had too much violence and drugs in the neighborhood.” Seeing how these problems affected others, she said, “I learned not to follow these footsteps. I wanted to make my community better. By getting involved in community service, I kept myself focused on my future.” The oldest of five children, Maricela will be the first in her family to graduate from high school at attend college. Marcela plans to attend UNLV and major in business. Congratulations to Star Graduate Maricela Mojadiddidi-Brambila of Las Vegas Academy of the Arts!
