The Las Vegas Sun announced it will recognize Southern Nevada’s high school teams and athletes at the Las Vegas Sun Standout Awards, described as “a black-tie, formal gala modeled on ESPN’s ESPY Awards but for local high school students, coaches, administrators and volunteers.” The event will be held May 19 at the South Point. GMG Group Publisher Gordon Prouty said, “High school sports help keep a community together, giving us reason to support our neighborhoods and schools.” The Sun said a group of CCSD athletic directors served on the awards selection panel.
