27 Apr Cimarron-Memorial High Rollers place 3rd in the world in robotics championship
Students from Cimarron-Memorial High School’s World Champion Robotics Team 987, the High Rollers, competed April 18-22 at the FIRST Robotics World Championship event in Houston, Texas. After two days of round-robin qualifying matches, the High Rollers seeded fifth, but went on to defeat teams from China, Turkey, Israel, Canada, and across the U.S. to win the George Washington Carver division. From there, the High Rollers competed against the winners of the five other divisions and placed third overall in the world. The High Rollers set the world high score of 561 in one of their matches. Cimarron-Memorial’s other accomplishments in the 2017 robotics season include winning the Utah Regional, the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors and the Gracious Professionalism Award sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.
