08 Mar CCSD celebrates School Breakfast Week and receives national recognition
CCSD is observing National School Breakfast Week. The School Nutrition Association said this year’s theme of “Take the School Breakfast Challenge” encourages students, parents and school employees to start their morning with a healthy breakfast. CCSD has approximately 2,000 Food Service workers and serves an average of about 105,000 breakfast meals each day.We have around 2000 workers in the Food Service Department.
Meantime, CCSD has received the Western Region’s 2017 Champions of Breakfast Award for the category Implementation of an Innovative School Breakfast Program Model. The Champions of Breakfast Awards recognize schools and districts that operate exemplary school breakfast programs. CCSD implemented Second Chance Breakfast in 13 secondary schools, and increased school breakfast participation by more than 20 percent in the last two years.
